KARNATAKA STATE OPEN UNIVERSITY

The Karnataka State Open Uiversity was established on 1st June 1996 vide Govt. Notification No. EDI/UVO/95 dated 12th February 1996 KSOU Act 1992, keeping in view the educational needs of our country in general and the Karnataka State, in particular. It is the eighth Open University in the country.

This University is an erstwhile Institute for Correspondence Courses of Mysore University and enjoys a unique privilege for a long and rich experience in the field of Distance Education. It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities as well as Commonwealth Universities Association. It is also a recognized member-university of the Distance Education Council (DEC), Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

The KSOU has launched Information Technology Programs in collaboration with Virtual Eduation Trust (Regd.), (VET), with its Administrative Office at Bangalore and Registered Office at Delhi, since January 2001 for the benefit of all the aspirants. It is responsible for total programme delivery as per the norms of KSOU.

LATERAL ENTRY & LATER EXIT SCHEME FOR THE KSOU IT-COURSES

(B.Sc.(IT) & M.Sc.(IT) ).

Lateral entry to the Second Semester of B.Sc.(IT) :
Students having completed 3-years Polytechnic Diploma courses in IT/Computers/Electronics or related subjects are eligible for direct admission to the 3rd semester of B.Sc.(IT).
Later entry to the Third Semester of M.Sc.(IT):
  1. Any graduate with PGDCA/PGDIT or equivalent certificates from a recognized university or
  2. Any graduate with ‘A’ Level Certificate of DOEACC.
  3. Any graduate with B.E.(C.Sc./IT) or MCA

Is eligible to take direct admission to the M.Sc.(IT) 3rd semester.
 
Later exit for the B.Sc.(IT) & M.Sc.(IT):
The IT course have been designed with modules of different levels of training at the various semester levels of both B.Sc.(IT) & M.Sc.(IT) degrees. Keeping in mind the terminal dexterity attained by the candidates, Certificates/Diplomas will be awarded by the university to candidates at different levels as indicated in the following charts.
